Goodbye Old Friend

We put our table on Craig's list this afternoon and 7 hours later it was being carried out our door. Our new table won't be ready to pick up until late next week. I guess the kids will be eating at their little table. This whole event made Molly very confused. She kept saying "Oh my goodness. Where is he taking my table? Why does he have my chair?" Gabe's excited about having more room to run. The next few days should be interesting.

Last Friday or Saturday it was really stormy here. I think there were some tornado warnings. Our friends who live about 50 blocks away said that they got hail. Here on N 27th Street we didn't even get rain, but we did get some fun pictures. I think this was around 7:30ish at night.

Say What?

We (the kids and I) ran into Wal-Mart a few days ago. As we were walking by the bathrooms....
Molly: Those are Wal-Mart's pottys.
Me: uh huh do you need to go potty?
Molly: (very matter of fact) No... those pottys freak me out.
It was funny hearing Molly say that. It's also very true. Molly isn't a big fan of public bathrooms. Can you blame her? On our trip to Chicago last winter break she held it 8 hours until we got to grandma's house. Talk about bladder control.

A couple Wednesdays ago we were on our way to toddler time at the library. (It starts at 10:35. The library (Eisley branch) is only a couple minutes from our house. I like us to be walking out the door at 10:15. Then we can get to the library return our books and find our name tags with a few minutes to spare.) I'm in the van getting the kids buckled in when I smell something unpleasant.
me: Gabe, do you stink?
Gabe: uh huh
me: ok I'm going to lay you one the seat to change your diaper, we don't have time to go back inside. That means you can't wiggle. I don't want poop on the seat. Do you understand?
Gabe: uh huh
Molly: yeah if you get poop on the seat Daddy will be ticked.

Speaking of the library here are some pictures of the Fancy Nancy parties we went to. If you haven't read Fancy Nancy you should check her out. We're all fans at our house. Well at least Molly and I are. The first few pictures are at the Gere branch back in March.

My Man Gabe

Happy Birthday to Gabe (yesterday)! He's 2. Look at that cute little face. It seems like he's grown up a lot in the last few months. He talks up a storm and is very curious. He's always making/looking for new friends. He definitely keeps me on my toes. getting ready to blow out the candles
We had some of Gabe's friends over for dinner. It was fun watching the little two year olds get so excited about opening presents.

here comes trouble

My mother in law was in Florida last month and sent the kids these t-shirts. I think they're so cute. Ever since they've had them they've become more interested in The Cat and The Hat. Molly is always telling me thing 1 and thing 2 are trouble. I think the t-shirts are fitting :) Why are they always so happy when they're throwing things at me?

Drew has to feel like a rock star every time he comes home. The second the kids see him they run down the hill to him. Then they escort him home. (I have a nice zoom on my camera, they really aren't very close to the door where I was sitting.)

Last night at church we had a square dancing activity. I have to be honest I was a little weary about it. I'm not a dancer and I'm not one who likes to embarrass myself in front of large groups. I do however do a great interpretation of the Elaine dance from Seinfeld :) ... The activity was really fun. The square dancing club that was teaching us brought an actual record player. Very impressive. I think my partners name was Don. He was a cute, very patient, little old man. Drew got to dance with a nice looking older woman. He told me that I didn't need to worry. All in all it was really fun, I'm glad we went. And I'm sad I didn't bring my camera. I could have captured a lot of great facial expressions. :)

Easter things

The Saturday before Easter there was an Easter egg hunt at a local park. Sadly we showed up 5 min late and missed it...

But we did get to see the Easter bunny. The Easter bunny was handing out candy and toothbrushes. score. Molly wouldn't go anywhere near him, but Gabe stocked up and shared.

I finished Molly's bow holder today! This is what you see when you walk into the kids bathroom. I love it. It's cute on the wall and it cuts down on the clutter in their drawer.

PRO: her bows won't get smashed in the drawer.
CON: Drew is going to see how many bows Molly has and give me a hard time when I make more.

easter egg hunt

Our friend hosted a Easter bake/egg hunt. Here are some pictures of the egg hunt. Molly was really excited to find the eggs. She found hers and then most of Gabe's. Gabe was just interested in eating what was inside and then dropping the egg on the ground. It was so fun and now we have a variety delicious treats.

Yesterday was SUPER WINDY, but warm. It was in the mid 80's. I'm ready for summer. Last fall I found a free splash pad by city campus I can't wait for it to open. I'm ready to pack up the winter coats and break out the shorts. sigh it's still only April 2nd.

In "adult" news. Drew is graduating next month. He'll have a Masters in Mathematics. exciting. / scary. Originally we were hoping/planning on a PhD. Before you you can get a PhD from UNL you have to pass a couple tests. There is one that Drew just can't score high enough on. The test is offered every 6 months. Instead of spending more time trying to pass it we're moving on. At least we're leaving with something. Some people come already having a masters and then leave with nothing if they can't pass. That would be even more depressing. Right now Drew is applying all over the place. The thought of being done with school is really exciting for me. I'll get to see Drew more. At the same time the thought of not having a job is really scary. Drew still has a valid teaching certificate so he could always sub if it came down to it. But I think that Drew vowed to himself that he wouldn't go back to teaching high school. blah. I don't like thinking that in a couple months we could be moving. I really LOVE Lincoln. I love our friends, the parks, music makers, museums, and our library. More or less I love familiarity. But even more than I love those things I love my little family and living indoors, so come what may.
