first hair cut

Why?  you may ask Lincoln doesn't have any hair.  And that's true over most of his head.  But he does have these crazy patches of long hair.  Today they got buzzed away.

90 to snow?

happy birthday!

A year ago he looked like this.
Now lil man is a big 1 year old!
(the first thing out of Gabe's mouth was "Lincoln can walk now!"  sadly no, but Gabe can't judge that one.  I didn't think Gabe would ever walk.)

Lincoln really has been the best baby.  If I could garuntee more just like him I'd have lots more.  He's so content and easy going.  I've been told that he's too easy and he's going to be a beast of a toddler. Hopefully his temperment doesn't change.  I feel lucky to have this little guy.  Happy Birthday Lincoln!

mini vacation

Drew had a conference at a state park a couple hours south of Louisville.  The college was paying for his gas, room and food.  Soooo we all decided to tag along.  I'm so happy we all got to go.  I didn't take a picture of the outside of the lodge :(  It made me feel like I was in a Cary Grant movie.

This was Lincoln the majority of the time.  Who can I call?  How many buttons can I hit on this alarm clock?
And this was Lincoln the rest of the time.  Plotting his escape from the screen door.  Luckily the little balcony was completely closed in.
The view from our room.  Which was deceiving because we're up on a hill.  We were actually pretty far from the water.
After we got checked into the room the kids and I went to explore while Drew attended his workshops.  We decided to walk to the water.  It was so HOT and WINDY  holy cow.
(notice how in the picture above the tall grass looks like a little line.  And then look at Molly and Gabe.  Molly is way ahead and still in the grass.  deceiving.)
After the grass there was a rocky section to cross and then we made it to the "sand".  In the winter the river gets damned.  So we were kind of at a fake sand line.  It was spongy and dirty.  But we were still excited.
 throwing rocks
Gabe's foot.  He wasn't so impressed.
Molly would have stayed forever.  Finding little shells and throwing rocks.
Molly is such a trooper/helper.  She carried the shoes without complaint.
Lincoln and Gabe taking a break.
After we got back to the hotel room we got cleaned up and then it was quite time.  Molly and Gabe watched tv while Lincoln took a nap.  All to be interrupted by a tornado warning or watch...  always get them confused.  A few tornadoes touched down in surrounding areas.  It isn't supposed to be 90+ degrees in the beginning of March.  We spent the evening in and out of the Lodge's storm shelter.  I was happy we were all together.  The kids really did great.  It's because when this mama heard storm shelter I quickly grabbed hands and lots of snacks.  food=quiet happy mouths. :)

In the morning it was dramatically cooler.  We played at the park until it was time to pack up and head home.

Sometimes I think Molly and Gabe enjoy the baby swings more than Lincoln.  I don't understand.  Maybe it's because I'm too big to fit...

low light photography

this week for class our assignment was low light. So hard. Yay for a tripod and a remote. I like the idea of shooting in low light, but I'd have to invest in a tripod... Maybe someday.

beautiful

The weather has been perfect. We've been playing outside hard core.
This picture is a little dark, but I love it.I'm not sure why Gabe wouldn't take his pull-over off, but he's pretty sweaty.
Lincoln loves being pulled around and Molly is always happy to oblige. Molly was so excited that it was warm enough to wear flip flops that when she couldn't find a pair that matched she decided that it didn't even matter. :)

presidents' day

handsome
Drew and Gabe having a little battle. I LOVE it that Drew plays with the kids. He was about to leave for a run when Gabe asked if he'd play swords. Of course Drew had some time.A friend had a bunch of tickets to a U of L women's basketball game. At first we weren't going to take Molly and Gabe, but then we thought hey it's preschool. It's not going to hurt them to come home early. So we picked them up after lunch. I'm happy we did. They had a ball.
do you like Molly's reindeer shirt? After she picked out her clothes I asked her if she'd want to wear a different shirt since it isn't Christmas time anymore. She said no Miss Donna will be so surprised. She cracks me up.
We even got some free sweet metal cardinal water bottles.
I'm sad I didn't get a good picture of Lincoln. He was the only one really supporting the team. When he was a couple months old someone from the infant cognition program called and asked if Lincoln could participate in an infant study. At the end he got a shirt that says I'm a baby scientist U of L cognition lab with a big cardinal on it... Maybe next time.
